Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Needed

Now is a great time to volunteer at Tryon Arts and Crafts!

Committees: There are openings on the Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Planning committees. These committees meet monthly and require only an hour or so of your time.

Heritage Gallery: We are organizing a gallery committee to arrange and schedule exhibits and displays. If you have gallery experience or would like to help with the Heritage Gallery, please let us know.

Gift Shop: The display area has been reconfigured to provide an open and comfortable environment. Anyone with an outgoing personality and a love for beautiful handmade arts and crafts would be an asset. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Training is provided.

Gardening: If you like to garden and can come by every week or so to water and weed (not many) one small garden, we would love to have you. There are future plans for another garden which will also need some tending, so be planning to enlist the services of a friend.

Maintenance: If you are handy and a tinkerer, you might consider helping out with the building maintenance. A check around the building once a week just to make sure everything is running smoothly would be very helpful. Who knows, it might even turn into a special project or two.

Archives: Tryon Arts and Crafts has a long and rich history. A couple of hours per week would be a great help in keeping the Tryon Arts and Crafts Archives up to date so none of that history is lost. You name the time and the day and we'll provide the workspace and pleasant company.

The BBQ Festival is full of volunteers and you could be one of them. Join us at the Tryon Arts and Crafts demonstration tent where we will be handing out information on our organization. Give us three hours or more of your time and we'll give you a free entrance and parking pass.

Summer Programs: Each summer Tryon Arts and Crafts partners with the Polk County School District in their Builder's Club summer enrichment program at the Polk County Middle School. TAC facilitates one week of arts and crafts for 100 or so elementary school children. We are always looking for volunteers to assist teachers with students. Training will be provided.

For more information or to volunteer for any of the above, please call the office at (828) 859-8323.
