Intermediate Wire-Wrap Jewelry Workshop with Sonia Arnold

March 20 & 21, Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 1-5pm

Tryon Arts and Crafts will host an Intermediate Wire-Wrap Jewelry workshop with instructor Sonia Arnold on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21 at the craft school located on Harmon Field Road.  This workshop will enhance the skills of previous wire-wrap students and build on the basic techniques of bending, twisting and shaping wire.

Students will use techniques including: filing, tumbling, cleaning wire, applying texture and stone hardness to create more complex designs. The instructor will have different level projects to satisfy the level of each returning student. Some wire experience is needed and beginners should be familiar with basic tools used in jewelry making.  Projects will include earrings, pendant, bracelet and rings as time permits.

The instructor, Sonia Arnold, a native of Virginia, studied art and received her BFA at UNC-Asheville.  Sonia’s work with jewelry is extensive and involves silver and gold smithing as well as wire work.  Her artwork is found in Brevard at Number 7 Arts Co-operative and at the Gem & Mineral Museum in Hendersonville, NC.  She and her family reside in Brevard, NC.

Advance registration is required.   Payment is due at the time of registration. The cost of the workshop is $135.00 for members ($145.00 for non-members). A materials fee of $40-50 will be due to the instructor at the time of the workshop. Payment may be made by mail, at the school, or by phone with a credit card. To register or for more information, please call (828) 859-8323.
