Intermediate Woodturning Workshop with Anthony Napoli

Saturday, Feb 6, 9am-5pm, and Sunday, Feb 7, 12-5pm

Tryon Art and Crafts will host a Woodturning workshop on February 6th and 7th with instructor Anthony Napoli.  The workshop will offer instruction for three projects to improve the skills of woodturning students.  Students will turn three kitchen dispensing tools over the course of the weekend.

A peppermill, a traditional salt shaker and a single-hole salt shaker will be turned from mahogany and will become elegant and creative additions to anyone’s table.  Students will be given the opportunity to develop their own unique design for each project within the specified parameters, and then will execute that design on a Jet mini lathe.  The class is open to all, but some experience in woodturning is recommended.

It is a pleasure to welcome Anthony Napoli as a new instructor at Tryon Arts and Crafts.  He is well known and well respected in his field.   Napoli lives in Inman, SC and received most of his training from Carolina Mountain Woodworkers Guild workshops, studying under some of the best wood turners and sculptors around.  He states:  “As I apply various tools to the spinning wood, shavings are created that expose the grain and other features that allow for changes in the design. I look for characteristics that will produce interest and do not look at piece strictly for symmetry.”   Napoli has been published in multiple woodturning journals and has shown his work throughout the region.

Advance registration is required.  Tuition is $125.00 ($135.00 for non-members) with a materials fee of $65.00. Payment is required at the time of registration. For more information or to register, please contact Tryon Arts & Crafts at (828) 859-8323 or by email tryonartsandcrafts@windstream.net.  We have a limited number of spaces available for this class so register soon!
